October 2020

Posted on 10/09/2020

 Dear HGS Families & Friends,

It’s hard to put into words just how great it is to see the learning activities and feel the energy and excitement of students and staff each day! Although we have settled into daily routines, it still feels special to be together again. Whether classroom communities are in-person or remote, relationships and connections are forming as we all work together each day.

Some important things to note this month (and beyond) include:
❖ October 12th - no school/Columbus Day
❖ Halloween Celebrations - each classroom will hold a classroom party during the school day on Friday, October 30th. Teachers will send home information regarding details, including a food sign up and other class-specific information. A reminder that any food that is sent in this year must be store bought and individually wrapped.
❖ November 3rd - no school for students/Election Day (Teacher Workshop Day)
❖ Parent-Teacher Conferences - Tuesday, 11/10 4:30 - 7:30 PM and Thursday, 11/12 4 - 7 PM. A notice will go out for you to sign up for a time slot - teachers will then share a link for the virtual meeting.
❖ November 11th - no school/Veterans Day

Our word of the month is RESPECT. Daily quotes and classroom lessons explore what respect means - for ourselves, those around us, and our environment (classroom, neighborhood, Earth, etc.).

We appreciate the trust you place in us and value the opportunity to work together to create the best educational experience possible for your children. Enjoy this beautiful season!

Until next time,

Sarah Muncey, Interim Principal
Karen Ferrante, Interim Assistant Principal
