Welcome Back!
Posted on 08/14/2019
Dear Hills Garrison Families,

Welcome to the 2019 - 2020 school year! We hope you have enjoyed a safe and relaxing summer. As you think about the school year to come, remember that each and every day is an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to accomplish new things! We are excited to join you for a fantastic school year!

~ Meet & Greet: Monday, August 26th 12:00-2:00 PM
This is an opportunity for students and parents to meet the teachers and tour the building.
School year starts: Wednesday, August 28th

~ Arrival & Dismissal:
Student arrival begins at 8:20. The school day begins promptly at 8:45 AM and ends at 3:05 PM. Parents picking up children at dismissal come to the office for a pass and then line up in the parent pickup area. Students who attend the after-school program and walkers are dismissed to either the cafeteria or the bus dismissal doors. The district policy for Attendance, Tardiness, and Truancy can be found in the Parent/Student Handbook online. Please establish the habit of being on time for school.
~ Busses:
Schedules and routes are posted on the district and school websites under the Parent tab and will also be available in the school office.
~ Parent contact information:
Please be sure we have up-to-date phone numbers and email addresses on file at all times.
~ Reporting absences:
If you child will be absent or tardy, please call the school to inform us. Our automated phone system directs you to the absentee line (881-3930). Doctors notes are required for excused/documented leave.
~ Supplies:
Students are supplied with items they need for daily classroom use. Please provide a backpack or school bag. All items should be labeled. Children find it helpful to have a work area at home stocked with pencils, crayons, etc. to help with homework and projects.
~ Headphones:
The Hudson School District provides adequate headphones for students to use for assessments and lab projects. Your child may bring his own headphones if you prefer. All headphones are the responsibility of the child, and if lost/damaged, the family will need to replace them.
~ Snack:
Snack is an important part of the day! Please send healthy snacks to school each day. Water bottles, labeled with student names, are highly recommended.

~ Prescription Medications:
The school nurse can only administer medications when a prescription from a doctor directs her to do so. All medicine (original container only) must be transported by an adult and logged in by the nurse or school official. Students may NOT transport medications.
Over the counter medications require parents to fill out a permission form available from the nurse. All medications (original containers) are kept in the nurse’s office.
~ Home/School Communication Folder:
Children will be given this folder which is used to go between school and home daily. Please send back to school each day.

We are busy putting the final touches on things here to welcome you back! We’re all excited to see you and look forward to a year full of learning and fun!
