                               Fall Leaves

In a blink of an eye, September has come and gone.  I am happy to report that the students are adjusting to the routines and expectations of third grade.  September marks Constitution Day on the 17th, where the students learned what it is and we signed our own class constitution.  Be sure to check out the photos in the gallery.
The students have all completed their first assessment in math and are ready to present their math/social projects on rollercoaster.  Students also completed the fall STAR math and reading testing and have started their weekly spelling check-ups.  We're reading chapter books and becoming word collectors.  Grammar lessons are guiding the students to a better understanding of sentences and parts of speech.  In social studies we've learned about maps, globes, cardinal and intermediate directions and we're wrapping up our unit with landforms.  A tremendous thank you to Mrs. Workman and Mrs. Dembrowski for volunteering their time and talent in assisting the students in making dough for their landforms.
Mid October, the students will begin their science unit on Weather and Climate.  It's a great time to begin these lessons because the students see and feel the changes in the weather.  They'll also get to meet a meteorologist from WMUR 9.  This also brings us to the halfway point of the first trimester.
