How is it possible that it’s the half way point to the school year?  The students have been working hard and sharing some great learning experiences. At the beginning of this trimester Jeremy Griffus from the Adult Learning Center/Exploration, introduced Force and Motion to the students.  They learned vocabulary words like inertia, thrust, motion, velocity, and force. They created ramps with a partner and learned how changing one variable in their trials would change their results. It was such a wonderful time!  The second half of this trimester, the students will take what they’ve learned with Mr. Griffus and continue to expand their knowledge in the classroom.

Multiplication and division skills are coming along, but continued practice at home is a must in solidifying their fluency.  Just as little as 5 to 10 minutes a day will help improve their memorization of all the facts.  Your help in this area is appreciated.  Along with fact practice, reading is also a required assignment.  Their goal is to build that reading stamina along with comprehension skills. Working together we can certainly encourage their success in these areas.

I look forward to seeing how your child will continue to learn and grow in third grade.  Academic growth is important, but the content of their character is as equally as important in their success.
