Welcome to third grade!

In math we are learning about multiplication and division. We are looking for patterns and strategies to use to help us learn our facts.
We have finished the science unit on weather. Meteorologist Kevin Skarupa came and talked to the third graders all about the wonders of weather. He even recorded the students waving and showed it on live television. We are now starting our social studies unit on communities. We will be learning all about the different types of communities and how they are important.
We continue to work hard in language arts through writing narratives and How to Pieces, reading book club books, learning about capitalization, punctuation, grammar and practicing our weekly spelling sorts.

Our specialist schedule rotates through an A,B,C, D day schedule. On days A and B our special is held in the morning right before recess, and on days C and D they are held during the last hour of the day. Below is the schedule we will follow.

A.  Art
B. Music
C.  P.E. (Remember sneaker and water)
D. Library (Remember your library books)

Word of the month for December is
mindfulness.

It is important that each student takes responsibility for his and her learning. This means that they need to remember to bring their green folder and assignment book to and from school each day. This also means that they are expected to turn in their homework on time and completed.
