Updates

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

We hope that everyone is staying healthy and safe. This is new for all of us, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we begin remote learning.

As a fifth grade, we will be using Google Classroom for completion of all assignments. We are fortunate that all students have used this format and should be able to log-in using their school log-in information. Should any problems arise, please email your child’s teacher as soon as possible. If you are unable to access the on-line learning component, please make sure that you reach out to Janice Martin jmartin@sau81.org  and the classroom teacher as soon as possible to resolve the issue. In the event  that you do not have WiFi access, please call the school to arrange a time between the hours of 10-2 to pick up a packet of work.

Each day students should log on, and begin their remote learning by clicking on the Homeroom section for daily instruction and expectations. Following that, students should check into each classroom section (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies), to complete the given assignments. Please make sure that your child clicks the “Turn In” or “Submit”  button so that credit can be given for each assignment. Please carefully monitor assignment due dates as some tasks may be longer than one day.

Our best advice for you during this trying time is to make a schedule with your child to maintain a typical day with routines and breaks. We realize that your schedule may vary, but we recommend 25-30 minutes per subject per day. Teachers will be intermittently available throughout the day, with designated office hours being from 9:00 A.M.-10:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. If questions come to us outside of that time, we’ll respond to them as soon as possible.  If students have questions, students can post a question on the Homeroom page. If you, as a parent, have a question, please email your teacher directly. If you are in Miss Turner and Mr. Perkins’ classes and you need your novel, please call the school to arrange a time to pick up your book either Friday, March 20th or Monday, March 23rd between the hours of 10-2. If you are in Miss Laliberte or Mrs.Boucher’s classes, we will be continuing our non-fiction unit and all resources are on-line. Miss Laliberte’s class should refrain from reading their mysteries until we are together again.

Keep an eye out for updates, especially as assignments go live on Monday, March 23rd. If you’d like to share pictures with your classroom teacher, they can share them on the website.  Again, we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time! Thank you again, and we hope to see you soon!

Sincerely,

The Fifth Grade Team
